Queen Victoria Market -Franklin Street Redevelopment, City of Melbourne

The City of Melbourne is investing $306 million to preserve and renew the market and surrounding precent. Guided by the 2015 Queen Victoria Market Precinct Renewal Master Plan, the renewal program comprises over 14 packages of works and over 27 projects.  The program seeks to retain and restore the market’s heritage while moving key market infrastructure and parking below-ground to create more room for market trade and new open spaces for customers and the community. The City of Melbourne recently announced Lendlease as the preferred development partner to transform the area to the south of the iconic Queen Victoria Market precinct as part of the Council’s Renewal Program.

Sensum are assisting the City of Melbourne with project management services for the early works packages. This includes the current open-air carpark, bordered by Peel St to the West & Queen Street to the East, and a large section of Franklin Street directly further south of the carpark. Additionally, the heritage protected Franklin St Stores will also be restored for use by future tenants. These stores are currently being used by Queen Victoria Market for back of house operations and Trader storage.
